At the November, 2001 AGSDCF Board meeting, the Officers & Directors approved a $50,000 grant as long as the AKC Canine Health Foundation made a matching
grant of $50,000 for a total of $100,000. The $100,000 will be used for
research that will benefit the German Shepherd Dog. The AKC Canine Health
Foundation has agreed to the match and the funds have been forwarded to
them. Noted researchers are submitting proposals to the AKC Canine Health
Foundation. Both organizations have to agree on the proposal that will be
funded. As of May 31, 2005, the AKC Canine Health Foundation Donor Advised Fund has a balance of $41,282 that has yet to be allocated for canine health research.
